How Much Does It Cost to Fix a Dent??

Updated: Oct 23, 2018

We get this question every single day. The truth is there is not a one size fits all answer. At Buffalo Dent Repair, we work to educate the process of pricing a dent repair.

-Price is a Process

The cost of Paintless Dent Repair is based off several factors, revolving around the difficulty of the repair. We use a guide to quickly and efficiently determine the cost of a repair, which is used for each vehicle we work on. This is an overview of the main factors

Here’s how we do it:

  1. Size - Simply, how large is the damaged area? Dents come in all different shapes and sizes, and each area of displaced metal needs to be reworked to get the best result. We look over the whole panel and determine how large the damaged area is.

  2. Panel Material - Vehicles today are being made of more exotic materials to save weight and add strength. Most common materials are Steel, Aluminium, and High Strength Steel. Each of these react differently and require different strategies to repair. Aluminum and High Strength Steel are much more difficult to repair than regular steel.

  3. Location - In most cases, we need to access the backside of the dent in order to remove it. Because of this, the location of the dent is a major factor in both cost and difficulty. There are many structural braces throughout each vehicle panel, and we need to navigate these to achieve a great repair. We may need to remove parts to access the damage, such as taillights or headliners.

The boring answer to the question, how much does a dent cost, is that we don't know until we do a full inspection. It is important for us and any potential customer to be clear during the estimate process, dents can get more complicated than it may seem. (No suction cups and dry ice here) We do a thorough estimate for each vehicle to ensure we have a full understanding of the repair. No two dents are the same, but our process helps to simplify the process.
